Rotational Friction Dampers at Athens Airport
Damptech has supplied custom Rotational Friction Dampers for the new multi-story parking facility at Athens International Airport. Spanning seven levels and over 80,000 m², the building is set to become the largest parking structure in Greece.
To satisfy stringent seismic performance criteria across the massive footprint, a series of dampers with varied capacities were integrated directly into the structural frame. The damping solution effectively dissipates lateral energy during seismic events, safeguarding structural integrity while optimizing member sizes.
Project 1 in Greece | Retrofitting project
Two more new floors where added to the existing RC apartment building in Athens
Project 2 in Greece | New Industrial Project
Dampers were installed in a very short time to an industrial building in Athens
Project 3 in Greece
Scissor Model dampers have been installed in a industrial building in Greece. Since the completion of the project, several earthquakes have hit the region. The most significant were in June 2008 (M 6.5) and in August 07, 2011 (M 4.7) and August 20,2011 (M 4.9). The dampers have performed very well and no excessive displacements or effects of high forces have been observed in the structure.
Project 4 in Greece | Two new office buildings
Dampers were installed in a very short time in two new office buildings
